As you may already be aware, the AUE Annual Conference 2019 website is live for bookings and I can now confirm that all Early-Bird places have officially SOLD OUT. We do however, still have a number of places available at the full price and new members since the 2018 conference can still attend for free!

This year we have developed a fantastic social programme for you, including a number of excursions to showcase the best of Lancaster! On Wednesday 4th September delegates can choose to attend one of the below activities to socialise with other attendees in a more relaxed and informal environment before the conference officially begins.

Lancaster Castle
If you are looking for something traditional, where better than the unique historic monument of Lancaster Castle? Its origins date back to Roman times and it has been a centre of justice, incarceration and prison reform for almost 1,000 years. Tour guides will take you through tales of witchcraft, religious persecution, crime, punishment, rehabilitation and release throughout the ages. You'll see working courts, modern prison buildings, medieval cells and a collection of majestic heraldry.

Lancaster Canal Boat Cruise
Or if you would prefer something more scenic, you can book onto our private Kingfisher Cruise across Lancaster Canal to experience the stunning views of the Lune Valley. Designed and constructed by John Rennie and Alexander Stevens in 1797, the Lune Aqueduct is a Grade 1 piece of civil engineering, spanning 202 meters (664 feet). Once on-board guests will be provided with cream tea to accompany their picturesque surroundings.

Lancaster Brewery
Or how about a taste of Lancaster? See behind the scenes of the day-to-day inner workings of Lancaster Brewery on one of our relaxed and informal tours. Discover how Lancaster beer is made and even enjoy a taster or two afterwards! Hosts welcome you ask as many questions as you please as this is a working Brewery and the tour takes you right into the heart of the brewhouse!

Gala Dinner
As always, the Gala Dinner also provides the perfect opportunity for delegates to build new relationships as well as developing existing ones and this year will include an after-dinner speech from Chris Barrie, best know for his role of 'Rimmer' in Red Dwarf! To others he is Hilary, Angelina Jolie‚Äôs butler in Tomb Raider; but to many he will forever be remembered as Gordon Brittas, the most irritating manager in the history of the British leisure centre industry. Chris has since presented Massive Engines, exploring almost every invention in mechanised transport from trains to airships.

We would love you to join us at Lancaster, so book today to secure your place at the conference, please note, there will also be some updates to the conference programme announced shortly!
