2020 RA Awards

Due to Covid-19, the CUBO RA Awards were announced in May 2020 with the winning RAs being presented their awards by their own institution.

Find out who won

The Winner of the New Reslife Professional Awards will be revealed at the 2021 CUBO Residence Life Conference.

Role of the Residence Assistant and Residence Life Professional

Residence Assistants (RAs) carry out essential work in developing a living and learning community in purpose-built student accommodation. Sometimes known by other job titles, they are students who work or volunteer in residential accommodation, helping their fellow students, often new undergraduates, to adapt to and thrive in university life.  The CUBO RA Awards recognise the important contribution they make to student well-being and success.

Residence Life Professionals are the professionals who manage the residence life programmes taking place in universities and private purpose-built student accommodation. The CUBO/Acuho-I New Residence Life Professional Award goes to an exceptional individual with up to five years' experience in the role.

Award Categories and Prizes

The RA Awards for Universities are open to all higher education institutions in the UK and Ireland. There are six awards to be won in this category. Winners in 2020 will receive a trophy at their institution.

The RA Awards for Private Partners are open to all private accommodation providers working with universities to deliver Residence Life programmes. Winners in 2020 will receive a trophy at their institution.

The CUBO & Acuho-I New Residence Life Professional of the Year is open to universities and private providers. Nominations are invited for outstanding residence life professionals with up to five years experience.

The prize is a place at the 2021 Acuho-I Conference. CUBO and Acuho-I together provide funding up to $3000 in total towards the trip.

Entries will be reviewed by an international judging panel from the USA, UK, Australia and Europe.

The winning RAs will be announced in April.

The shortlist for New Residence Life Professional of the Year will be announced at a Residence Life training event later in 2020 - details to follow soon.

RAs and Residence Life Professionals provide essential support for hundreds of thousands of  students every year. Only through their dedication, resourcefulness and hard work are we able to provide the environments and additional educational opportunities outside lecture theatres where they can learn, flourish and be supported. The CUBO RA Awards allow us to honour those whose contributions have been recognised by their peers as truly exceptional.
