CUBO Chair Melissa Browne Steps Down

17 September 2026      Tesni Carter, CUBO Communications Officer

After more than four years on the CUBO Executive Committee, Melissa Browne has stepped down as Chair.

Melissa joined the CUBO Executive in 2022 as Learning & Development Lead, before going on to serve as Vice Chair, Deputy Chair and Chair.

Her connection with CUBO stretches back much further. Having been involved with the association for more than 15 years, Melissa has often spoken about the role CUBO played in her own professional development, from providing a trusted peer network to creating opportunities to share ideas, explore challenges and learn from colleagues across the sector. Her journey from member to Chair reflects the impact a professional community can have on career development, as well as her commitment to ensuring others benefit from those same opportunities.

One of Melissa's lasting contributions has been her commitment to supporting people in the sector. She led the development of CUBO's Learning & Development Strategy and oversaw the launch of the CUBO Mentoring Programme, creating new opportunities for members to learn from one another and build their careers. She also helped strengthen CUBO's work around equality, diversity and inclusion, including supporting Carol Thomas with the creation of the CUBO Black Professionals Network.

Throughout her time on the Exec, Melissa has brought enthusiasm, energy and a determination to make a difference. She has championed the value of campus and commercial services while never losing sight of the people behind them.

As Melissa begins an exciting new chapter, we thank her for everything she has contributed to CUBO and the wider community.
