Explore the Campus Experience in Scotland
The 2023 CUBO Study Tour visits five leading Scottish universities for an in-depth insight into their student accommodation, residence life, catering, events, sport and other facilities, followed by two days of inspirational professional development and networking at the CUBO Summer Conference & Awards in Glasgow.
One of the world’s leading universities, The University of Edinburgh opened its gates in 1583 and counts Nobel Laureates, Olympic champions, space explorers and prime ministers among its alumni. The university has a wide range of modern and traditional accommodation, catering and retail outlets, and conference facilities, and an award-winning residence life programme. We visit key facilities across the campus before meeting the residence life team for a deep dive into residence life at Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Napier University is the #1 Modern University in Scotland (THE World University Rankings 2023) and has also been named top university in Scotland for environmental sustainability and ethics (2022 People and Planet University League). Our visit to Edinburgh Napier includes a presentation by the Head of Hospitality and Facilities Service and a tour of facilities.
Research university Heriot-Watt University is the setting for our third site visit in Edinburgh. Its campus is home to Oriam, Scotland's National Sports Performance Centre. This cutting-edge development is the training hub for Scotland's national football and rugby squads among others, fosters competition at the highest levels and also welcomes students, staff, the local community and local sports groups.
The University of St. Andrews is Scotland’s first university and the third oldest in the English-speaking world. It topped The Guardian University Guide 2023 and is where Kate met William, so no surprise that it has recently been the location for the next series of The Crown! We meet the university commercial and campus service team, tour the campus and learn about the St. Andrews student experience.
The city of Glasgow is Scotland’s second city and home to the prestigious University of Glasgow, which has fostered the talents of seven Nobel laureates, two prime ministers and Scotland’s inaugural First Minister. Scotland’s first female medical graduates completed their degrees at this university in 1894. After touring the campus, we join the 2023 CUBO Summer Conference & Awards for two days of professional development and networking, and a celebration of the best of commercial and campus services in the UK and Ireland!
From Sunday to Friday, the tour includes all meals, lots of networking opportunities and some free time in Edinburgh.
