CUBO Summer Conference addresses challenges of pandemic for HE commercial services

‘Leadership Comes First – Essential lessons from Unprecedented Times’ is the theme for this year’s CUBO Virtual Summer Conference. 

The Conference take places on 23rd and 24th June and will deliver essential knowledge, insights and professional development to commercial services leaders and their teams, drawing from lessons learned during the pandemic.

The speaker line-up includes: political broadcast journalist Nick Watt on the political landscape for higher education; renowned leadership speaker David Meade and UK Hospitality CEO Kate Nicholls on the reshaping and recovery of the hospitality sector.

Other plenary and breakout sessions will provide case studies, insights and thought leadership for Higher Education commercial services directors and their teams.

Sessions include: re-energizing catering, hybrid conferencing, next steps for campus sport, accommodation models, sustainable accommodation, team-building, staff mental health, Covid impact on Gen Alpha, leading through periods of ambiguity, effective stakeholder management and identifying new commercial opportunities.

CUBO Conference Chair Phil Scott says:

“Covid-19 has changed the way we work, live and study, and the impact on universities is yet to be fully understood. Our 2021 Summer Conference provides a blend of knowledge, insights and leadership skills to support the planning and management of campus and commercial services in this new era.

It will feature expert perspectives on higher education commercial services, while giving us some fascinating insights into the political environment and changing student demographics as well as leadership tools us for the challenges ahead and business solutions in an online exhibition of 16 CUBO corporate partners.”

The conference is open to CUBO members and non-members. New this year, team tickets allow unlimited staff from an institution to pick and mix sessions over the two-day event. Individual tickets are also available.
