The CUBO Awards showcase the full range of services dedicated to delivering an excellent student experience: from catering and housing to retail and sport, we celebrate individuals, teams, institutions and partnerships. Check out our  2019 winners and some awards entries from recent years.


In light of the COVID-19 crisis, the CUBO Awards 2020 will take place as a virtual event on Thursday 3 December, as part of the CUBO Winter Festival .

 Rules of entry

  • The CUBO Awards are open to all higher education institutions (HEIs) in the UK and Ireland.
  • The Business Partnership of the Year Award is open to an HEI and business working together in partnership.
  • All entries must relate to or come from CUBO areas of activity in higher education, i.e. campus and commercial services including: accommodation, residence life, catering, sports, retail, commercial conferencing and events. If in doubt, contact us before entering the Awards.
  • An HEI may enter all categories but only one entry per HEI is permitted per category.

 How to enter

ENTRY IS NOW CLOSED. Entry is online via the link below. You will be prompted to register (enter). For each category you enter, you'll receive an email with the log-in to the entry form. Check your Spam if you do not get this. You can then start planning and working on your entry. The software allows you to Save and Edit your entry up until the deadline.

  • Entries should be up to 600 words in the form of a 100-word summary, followed by 500 words of detail. (Campus Experience of the Year can be 1,000 words in total)
  • Up to 3 images can be included (5 for Campus Experience). These should be between 700KBs and 5MBs and in jpeg format. 


The Awards Panel will review all entries and draw up a shortlist. A panel of independent experts will then review the shortlist and agree a winner in each category.

New for 2020 - universities shortlisted for Campus Experience of the Year, will also have a site visit. The panel of independent judges will receive a report from that visit alongside the written entries.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is not open for entries and the winner is decided by the CUBO Chair.


Awards Presentation

The CUBO Awards Dinner is a glittering black-tie event celebrating the best in campus and commercial services.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the CUBO Awards will be presented via a virtual ceremony on Thursday 3 December. The ceremony will be part of the CUBO Winter Festival, a week-long virtual event to replace the standard CUBO Winter Conference.
