The CUBO Awards showcase the full range of services dedicated to delivering an excellent student experience: from catering and housing to retail and sport, we celebrate individuals, teams, institutions and partnerships.

It's time to enter the 2020 CUBO Awards! Read how below, and check out our 2019 winners and some awards entries from recent years.

 

Who can enter?

The Awards are open to all higher education institutions in the UK and Ireland, while businesses working in partnership with higher education institutions can enter for the  Business Partnership of the Year award with their HEI partner. All entries must come from or relate to CUBO areas of higher education.

Judging

The Awards Panel will review all entries in March and draw up a shortlist. A panel of independent experts then review the shortlist and agree a winner in each category.

New for 2020 - universities shortlisted for our premier award,  Campus Experience of the Year, will have a site visit. The panel of independent judges will receive a report from that visit alongside the written entries.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is not open for entries and the winner is decided by the CUBO Chair.

Key Dates

  • 20 January 2020 - open for entries
  • 13 March - deadline for entries
  • End of March - shortlisted candidates notified
  • 11 June – winners announced at CUBO Awards Ceremony in Belfast

Awards Presentation

The CUBO Awards 2020 take place at Queen's University Belfast as part of the CUBO annual summer conference from 8-10 June. The CUBO Awards Dinner is a black-tie event.

How to enter

Entries must be in writing and 600 words maximum.

  • This should take the form of a 100-word summary followed by 500 words of detail. (Campus Experience of the Year can be 1,000 words in total)
  • Up to 3 images can be included (5 for Campus Experience). These should be between 700KBs and 5MBs and in jpeg format. 
  • Entry is via our online system - opening 28 January with a link on this page.
  • DEADLINE: 23.00 on 13 March 2020

Rules of entry

  • A maximum of 3 images and 600 words for all categories, except Campus Experience of the Year (5 images and 1,000 words)
  • No links to additional information or video material can be accepted.
  • Only one entry per institution per category
  • There is no limit to the number of categories an institution may enter.
  • Open to all HEIs whether CUBO members or not.
  • Companies working in the university sector may only enter the business partnership category and only with their HEI partner.
